In this water color by George Holland we see the upper end of Broad St. as it was in l797. The Dutch house with gabled roof was dated l698 and was built by John Hendricks de Bruyn. It was one of the few old Dutch houses to survive. In l797 it was occupied by James Bryson, a merchant, and Moses Smith.
